When you find a good employee, you want to keep him! Afterall, it costs a lot of money to search for a new candidate, interview, and train a new employee. It’s in the company’s best interest to make sure those good employees are happy and well taken care of.
Take a look below for some tips on keeping your employees morale high.
1. Praise often. If your employee does a good job, be sure to tell him. Were you happy with the latest report? Pleased with his ability to stay under budget? Excited about the event that was planned and executed? Make sure your employees know you appreciate a job well done. A little bit of “thanks” goes a long way.
2. Reward. You don’t always have to reward with money (although, money is a great motivator). If your business is like most in this economy, then you have to be creative with rewards. Give a good employee an extra day off, let him go to lunch a little bit early, or maybe give him a gift certificate to dinner. There are many different ways to reward a good employee.
3. Make expectations known. You can also let other employees know that you appreciate a good employee. This helps those who have a little bit of work to do know what the expectations are. When they see you praising another employee, they know their job isn’t going unnoticed either. The other employees also know what they need to do in order to receive the same recognition.
